en.Wedoany.com Reported - Mercedes-AMG is advancing the development of its high-performance electric SUV, which will be built on the AMG.EA architecture, blending the design language of a GT sports car with the practicality of an SUV.

The new AMG GT electric SUV heavily borrows design elements from the GT sedan. Spy shots reveal a low "Panamericana" grille and slim full-width taillights, with a front fascia featuring large air intakes and sharp fender lines. The side profile maintains a long wheelbase and low roofline, paired with flush door handles and large wheels, while the rear wheel arches are pronounced. At the back, triple round taillights are embedded within a black panel, and an integrated roof spoiler enhances aerodynamics.

Inside, the new model is expected to follow the sedan's layout, featuring a 14-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch infotainment display running MB.OS software, supporting OTA updates and AI integration. Other features include an augmented reality head-up display, a Burmester 4D surround sound system, high-performance seats, and carbon fiber trim.

The powertrain is the technical highlight of the vehicle. The electric powertrain uses axial-flux motors developed by YASA, which are more compact and lighter than radial-flux motors. The GT 63 tri-motor version delivers 1,153 horsepower (860 kW) and 1,475 lb-ft (2,000 Nm) of torque, featuring all-wheel drive and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of approximately 2.5 seconds. The GT 55 version produces 805 horsepower (600 kW). Power comes from a 106 kWh battery pack using cylindrical cells and an advanced cooling system, supporting an 800-volt architecture and DC fast charging up to 600 kW, with a WLTP range of up to 435 miles (700 km). The vehicle also includes simulated gear shifting and a simulated V8 exhaust sound.

The AMG.EA platform extensively uses aluminum, combined with high-strength materials and lightweight design. The vehicle manages its higher center of gravity through adaptive air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and active roll stabilization, while advanced torque vectoring enhances handling.

Competitors for this AMG flagship electric SUV include the Porsche Cayenne Electric, Lotus Eletre, and Xiaomi YU7 GT. As prototype testing continues, the production version is expected to debut early next year, becoming the second model based on the AMG.EA platform.
