en.Wedoany.com Reported - The offshore wind power project off the coasts of Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City in Akita Prefecture, Japan, has obtained a compliance certificate from Bureau Veritas Japan Co., Ltd. The certificate confirms that the project's wind power generation facilities meet Japanese legal and technical requirements, and the design certification process has been completed. This marks a significant milestone for the project under Japan's Electric Utility Industry Act, clearing the way for construction planning at this stage.

The project previously obtained a compliance certificate from the Coastal Development Institute of Technology (CDIT) on June 1, confirming adherence to technical standards under the Port and Harbor Act. Kajima Corporation, in collaboration with Kobori Research Complex Inc. and COWI A/S, led the design of the monopile foundations, while Vestas and MHI Vestas Japan Co., Ltd. were responsible for the design of the wind turbines and towers. A.O.V. Arup & Partners Japan Limited served as the owner's engineer. The certification process included site condition assessment, design basis evaluation, integrated load analysis, and support structure design.
This project is the first fixed-bottom offshore wind power project in Japan's general sea areas to be awarded through a public tender, the first in Japan to use wind turbines exceeding 10 MW, and the world's first 15 MW-class fixed-bottom offshore wind power project to consider seismic design. Commercial operation is scheduled to begin in June 2028.
