en.Wedoany.com Reported - The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has joined the CESAR scheme of the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) as a supporter and promoter, aiming to enhance the anti-theft, identification, and recovery capabilities of aerial work equipment through a security marking and registration system.

The CESAR scheme uses Datatag security technology to identify equipment and assist in identification and recovery after theft. According to estimates from some insurance companies, construction equipment theft in the UK causes losses exceeding £1 billion annually, with extremely low recovery rates. Richard Whiting, IPAF UK General Manager, noted that equipment theft is a serious issue facing the industry, causing significant operational and financial impacts on businesses. If manufacturers, rental companies, and contractors in the aerial work sector register their machines with CESAR, they will receive a Datatag security system that generates a unique "fingerprint" for each machine, making it impossible for thieves to remove.
Viki Bell, CEO of the CEA, added that the CESAR scheme has a proven track record: registered equipment is six times more likely to be recovered after theft and only one-quarter as likely to be stolen compared to unregistered equipment. Through collaboration with IPAF, more aerial work companies can be helped to understand CESAR's role in equipment protection, assisting police recovery, and reducing the costs of machinery theft.
