en.Wedoany.com Reported - Avangrid, a subsidiary of Iberdrola Group, has commenced construction of the 57-megawatt Oregon Trail Solar project in Gilliam County, Oregon, now entering the photovoltaic panel installation phase. This milestone supports 200 local union jobs.

Avangrid CEO Jose Antonio Miranda stated that the start of photovoltaic panel installation demonstrates substantial progress in delivering new energy infrastructure in Oregon. Such projects are creating jobs, supporting local communities, and meeting growing regional electricity demand.

The project is scheduled for completion next year, deploying over 100,000 solar panels with an annual generation capacity sufficient to power approximately 10,000 U.S. households.

Avangrid expects the project to generate a total of $6 million in PILOTs (Payments in Lieu of Taxes) and property taxes for Gilliam County over its lifecycle, funds that will support public services such as schools and infrastructure.

The Oregon Trail Solar project is adjacent to Avangrid's already operational Pachwáywit Fields solar project and its recently announced Shutler Energy Storage project. Currently, Avangrid operates over 2.5 GW of installed capacity in Oregon, encompassing Daybreak Solar and Bakeoven Solar in Wasco County, as well as Tower Solar in Morrow County.
