en.Wedoany.com Reported - Embraer's E-Jets family of aircraft has received type certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India. The certification covers multiple models including the E190, E195, and E195-E2, with the E195-E2 being the quietest and most fuel-efficient small narrowbody aircraft in the world.

Raul Villaron, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Commercial Aviation Asia Pacific at Embraer, stated that the E-Jets, with their superior performance, economy, and passenger comfort, will reshape India's regional aviation landscape and support the Indian government's UDAN vision.
The E-Jets are among the most successful aircraft programs in commercial aviation history, with over 1,900 units delivered and currently operating with more than 80 airlines in over 50 countries. The E195-E2 has low operating costs and is the most fuel-efficient small narrowbody aircraft in operation today. Its modern cabin features a 2x2 layout with no middle seats, large overhead bins, and individual passenger service units.
The E175 previously received type certification in India and is operated by Star Air. In February 2026, Adani Defence & Aerospace and Embraer announced the strengthening of a Memorandum of Understanding to establish an E175 regional jet final assembly line, aligning with India's Regional Transport Aircraft program. The next-generation E195-E2 received triple certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) in 2018 and 2019, respectively, and is the most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft currently in operation.
Adity Shekhar, Regional Vice President of Sales at Embraer, noted that the E-Jets have a maximum range of up to 7 hours and the capability to operate at airports with shorter runways or lower pavement strength. This certification supports airlines in expanding their networks and opening unique routes to capture "blue ocean" opportunities that are too small for large narrowbody aircraft or too far for turboprops.
Embraer has a strong and growing presence in India, with nearly 50 aircraft covering 11 models operating in commercial aviation, defense, and business aviation. Among them, Star Air operates 11 E175 and ERJ145 aircraft.
