en.Wedoany.com Reported - The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently approved the feasibility study report for the new Qianjiang-Jishou Railway, with a total project investment of 43.36 billion yuan. The railway is located in southeastern Chongqing and western Hunan, passing through Qianjiang District, Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, and Xiushan County in Chongqing, as well as Huayuan County, Baojing County, and Jishou City in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province.
The line connects westward with the existing Chongqing-Qianjiang Railway and the planned Zhongxian-Qianjiang Railway, and eastward with the existing Zhangjiajie-Huaihua Railway and the planned Jishou-Yiyang Railway. It is part of the Xiamen-Chongqing Corridor and the Chengdu-Chongqing-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area high-speed passenger corridor, primarily serving medium- and long-distance passenger flows, while also accommodating intercity and tourism passenger flows along the route.
According to the preliminary design plan, the new line has a total length of 220.327 kilometers, including 148.508 kilometers within Chongqing and 71.819 kilometers within Hunan Province. The entire line includes 86 bridges totaling 41.207 kilometers and 63 tunnels totaling 168.709 kilometers, with a bridge-tunnel ratio of 94.98%. The design speed target for the project is 350 kilometers per hour, with a planned total construction period of 5 years.
The entire line features 5 stations, including 3 new stations (Youyang West Station, Xiushan North Station, and Huayuan Station), 1 existing station (Qianjiang Station), and 1 renovated and expanded station (Jishou East Station). The line diverges from the eastern throat of the Yuqian Yard at Qianjiang Station, with Qianjiang Station maintaining the scale of the Yuqian Railway. Using reserved engineering works, the line directionally bypasses the main line of the Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua High-Speed Railway to enter Jishou East Station, adding 1 platform and 1 track on the opposite side of the station.
Youyang West Station is located on Taohuayuan Street, east of Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, approximately 6.20 kilometers in a straight line from the county seat. The station has a scale of 2 platforms and 4 tracks, with a station building area of 8,000 square meters. Xiushan North Station is located in Guanzhuang Street, north of Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, 180 meters north of the Baotou-Maoming Expressway, within the area enclosed by Huadeng Avenue and the Xiushan-Songtao Expressway, approximately 5.29 kilometers in a straight line from the county seat. The station has a scale of 2 platforms and 6 tracks, with a station building area of 8,000 square meters. Huayuan Station is located in Meire Village, Huayuan County, approximately 4.3 kilometers in a straight line from the county seat and 6.7 kilometers from Xiangxi Biancheng Airport. The station has a scale of 2 platforms and 4 tracks, with a station building area of 6,000 square meters.
The project proposal for the Qianjiang-Jishou High-Speed Railway was approved by the NDRC in March this year, along with the Nanjing-Xinyang-Hefei High-Speed Railway. Currently, the preliminary design review is nearing completion, and construction drawing design has commenced, with review scheduled for completion in August this year. The environmental impact assessment report has been published and is about to be submitted to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment for approval. The entire line is expected to officially commence construction around October this year. Upon completion, the project will enhance the transport capacity of the regional high-speed rail corridor, improve the convenient connectivity between the Chengdu-Chongqing region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, serve the travel needs of people in old revolutionary base areas and ethnic regions, and promote regional economic and social development.
