Axpo, EDF Renewables Hellas Sign 102 MW Solar PPA in Greece

Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 29, Swiss energy company Axpo has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the combined output of two solar power plants owned by EDF Renewables Hellas, the Greek branch of EDF Renewables. The agreement involves the Skala Korinis and Loutsa power plants, both situated in central Greece, with a total capacity of 102 MW. The specifics of how the energy will be utilized were not disclosed.

This latest agreement follows Axpo’s previous PPA in Hungary and a corporate PPA in Croatia, both signed in March. Axpo stated that these short-term PPAs in Greece would help optimize the entire electricity value chain by leveraging local market insights along with the company’s broader European expertise, resources, and infrastructure.

Antonis Xenios, CEO of EDF Renewables Hellas, commented on the partnership, saying: “This collaboration reinforces EDF Renewables' dedication to maximize the potential of renewable energy and accelerate the energy transition, contributing to the decarbonization of the Greek economy.” EDF Renewables Hellas has a significant renewables portfolio, with an estimated potential capacity of 4.5 GW through its subsidiaries.

In 2024, Greece added 2.6 GW of solar capacity, raising its cumulative solar power capacity to 9.6 GW, marking significant progress in the country’s renewable energy development.
