Under German law, the facility is classified as critical infrastructure, designed to enhance resilience against power outages, external threats, and natural disasters. District Administrator Marc-André Burgdorf stated that the project will help secure data and power supply in the region for decades to come. The construction of the Meppen data center building is expected to cost €2.24 million (approximately $2.56 million), with an additional €1.2 million (approximately $1.37 million) allocated for technical systems such as uninterruptible power supplies. Two floors of the three-story building will serve as office space, while the third floor will house the server area, equipped with secure access control. The data center market in Lower Saxony remains relatively small, although several large-scale projects are planned in the region.
