en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Port Authority of Gijón, Spain, has awarded a contract for the restoration of the landside railway line at the Osa Terminal to a temporary joint venture comprising Códec Obras, Servicios y Proyectos and Construcciones Gicma Infraestructuras Ferroviarias, with a contract value of €271,188.88.

The seventh berth of this terminal originally had two parallel slab tracks. The landside track used for container operations was abandoned due to its overlap with the crane track. The container terminal, currently operated by APM Terminals, requires rail vehicles to access the unloading area via the berth. However, the proximity of Exolum's tanker facility to the seaside track has caused operational disruptions. Upon implementation of the contract, the port will connect the landside track with the seaside track, keeping the two infrastructure elements sufficiently apart to avoid interference, while maintaining rail access to the container terminal berth, thereby allowing the construction of new slab track segments to link the two tracks.
