en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) has signed an agreement with the Government of the Republic of Congo to provide $83.5 million in funding for road improvement works in Brazzaville.
The project includes seven major upgrades, primarily focusing on the maintenance of key routes. Specific works involve the construction of a new viaduct over the Congo River, the extension of the Corniche Boulevard, and the construction of a new bridge over the Djoué River, along with the renovation of an existing bridge. Other works include the construction of a new interchange, new connecting roads, and a pedestrian footbridge.
Additionally, the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo recently signed an agreement to build road and rail links between their capitals, Brazzaville and Kinshasa. This project was first proposed three decades ago, and the new agreement covers aspects such as taxation and customs. The tender process for the project's concession is about to be launched.
Meanwhile, major road works are also progressing in Kananga, Democratic Republic of Congo. Two projects, costing $90 million and $105 million respectively, are underway to improve a total of 84 kilometers of roads.
