en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, US fiber broadband operator GoNetspeed announced plans to build a 100% fiber-to-the-home network in Parlin, New Jersey, with a project value of $4.5 million, aiming to cover over 3,100 households and businesses. Construction is expected to begin in the winter of 2026, with the first users potentially gaining access as early as the winter of 2027. Upon completion, subscribers will be able to obtain symmetrical multi-gigabit broadband services for both upload and download speeds.
This round of construction will further extend GoNetspeed's all-fiber network to communities in central New Jersey. The project does not involve partial speed upgrades on existing copper or coaxial cable lines, but rather builds a new fixed broadband network consisting of fiber optic lines, regional aggregation facilities, and user access nodes, allowing optical signals to continuously reach homes and businesses. According to the company's announced service tiers, users can choose from speeds ranging from 500 Mbps to 6 Gbps, with symmetrical upload and download rates.
For residential users, symmetrical bandwidth can improve network performance during high-definition video conferencing, cloud backups, large file uploads, and simultaneous connections of multiple devices. For business users, stable upload capacity is crucial for cloud application access, remote work, video surveillance, and business data transmission. Traditional broadband networks often prioritize download speeds, whereas all-fiber access offers greater capacity expansion potential over a longer service lifecycle. After the Parlin project covers over 3,100 addresses, local residents and businesses will gain an additional high-speed access option independent of existing operator networks.
From a construction perspective, the project requires initial completion of route planning, path surveys, and construction design, followed by the laying of backbone fiber, community distribution networks, and last-mile access lines. The operator also needs to configure fiber aggregation equipment, user access ports, and network management systems, and conduct line testing and service activation in each coverage area. The infrastructure conditions in residential areas, commercial zones, and along different roads are not entirely uniform. Some lines can utilize existing poles and communication conduits, while other areas may require additional underground ducts, splice points, or new fiber distribution facilities.
GoNetspeed is currently expanding its fiber network construction scope in New Jersey. In addition to Parlin, the company is advancing network projects worth $13.6 million in South River and East Brunswick, and has planned expansions totaling $43 million in Rahway, Clark Township, Linden, and Woodbridge. With the addition of the Parlin project, GoNetspeed's construction footprint in New Jersey further increases, and different community networks can subsequently connect to its unified operational system via regional backbones and aggregation nodes.
At this stage, the project has announced the construction amount, coverage scale, and preliminary timeline, but has not yet disclosed the planned fiber length, number of access nodes, construction contractors, or the phased activation order for sub-areas. Key project milestones to watch include the start of construction in the winter of 2026, completion of initial backbone lines and community distribution networks, user-end access testing, and the official activation of the first batch of homes and businesses in the winter of 2027. GoNetspeed stated that its fiber network currently covers 11 US states and continues to add new service areas, with Parlin becoming another fixed broadband construction node in its ongoing expansion within New Jersey.
