en.Wedoany.com Reported - Amtrak announced that the sixth Cascades Airo trainset has been shipped east for testing, before arriving in the Pacific Northwest for service. This marks the halfway point in the testing process for Amtrak's new Cascades Airo trainsets, representing a milestone in the modernization of Amtrak's rail network.

The trainset will soon arrive at the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, Colorado, for a comprehensive testing program, and will only be cleared to proceed further after passing these tests. Once fully operational, each new Amtrak trainset will consist of eight passenger cars, featuring standard seats, economy class, and business class, accommodating approximately 300 passengers per set.
All new trains are equipped with auxiliary power cars fitted with pantographs, allowing them to draw power from electrified overhead lines while operating on diesel power in non-electrified sections. The Cascades Airo trainsets are a key component of Amtrak's fleet modernization plan and will operate on the Cascades route connecting Eugene, Oregon; Portland; Seattle; and Vancouver, Canada. The introduction of the new trains will enhance rail passenger service in the Pacific Northwest, meeting the region's growing travel demand.
