en.Wedoany.com Reported - The expansion of GE Vernova's Frontier Campus in Niskayuna, New York, has officially opened. The company, in partnership with New York State, has invested over $110 million, with an expected addition of 75 new research positions. GE Vernova contributed nearly $100 million, while New York State provided $9.635 million in tax credits through the Empire State Development (ESD) program, and an additional $6 for local site improvements under the Focused Attraction of Shovel-Ready Tracts New York (FAST NY) initiative. The new laboratories, testing, and collaboration spaces aim to accelerate the development of breakthrough technologies and deepen cooperation with customers and partners.
GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik stated that the facility is designed to bring together talent and research to build the technologies that will shape the future. Six technology exhibits were showcased at the opening ceremony: a Direct Air Capture research unit that uses sorbents to capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere; AirJoule joint venture technology that captures water vapor from the air and converts it into high-purity distilled water; an end-to-end wing-to-wing data center power simulation platform; Robotics and AI-based Inspection; materials science for advanced manufacturing tools; and advanced power conversion technologies, including solid-state transformers and next-generation control and cooling technologies.
Dave Vernooy, Vice President of GE Vernova's Advanced Research Center, noted that the new facility provides the team with the space and tools to transform research into practical technologies. The company plans to invest approximately $11 billion in capital expenditures and R&D from 2025 to 2028 to support manufacturing capabilities, grid solutions, and next-generation technologies.
