"We have just concluded a very successful meeting. The World Bank is a key ally in advancing projects that are crucial for the city and will undoubtedly transform its landscape," Mayor Galán stated after the meeting. He noted that discussions covered financing, design, and technical support for Metro Lines 1 and 2, as well as the Canoas WWTP, which is vital for cleaning the Bogotá River and the Magdalena River.
"The World Bank's positive experience with Metro Line 1 will serve as a benchmark for future infrastructure projects, particularly in strengthening collaboration between multilateral banks and Bogotá, as well as other strategic development projects in Colombia," Galán added. World Bank Vice President Cordeiro Guerra remarked: "It is a pleasure to be in Bogotá and to witness firsthand the success of projects that the Bank fully supports, as they are not only strategically important for Bogotá and Colombia but also symbolic for the entire Latin American region."
During the meeting, both parties also discussed how to align these efforts with the regional development vision of Colombia's President-elect Abelardo de La Espriella, as well as the continued critical financing role the World Bank will play in achieving this urban transformation agenda.
