Eiffel Investment Group Partners with Ergy to Develop 46MW Energy Storage Project in Poland
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Eiffel Investment Group has established a partnership with Polish renewable energy developer Ergy to jointly develop the Baczyna battery energy storage project in western Poland, with a capacity of 46 MW/184 MWh and commercial operations expected to begin in 2028.
As the first project under this partnership, Baczyna is a fully licensed, shovel-ready battery energy storage system (BESS), having obtained all major permits, grid connection rights, and a long-term capacity market contract. The project comes at a critical time for Poland's energy transition, as the expansion of renewable energy generation and the gradual decline of coal-fired power capacity make battery storage increasingly important for balancing intermittent power production, enhancing grid resilience, and ensuring supply security.
Under the cooperation agreement, Eiffel Investment Group will provide long-term infrastructure investment expertise, while Ergy, leveraging its experience in the Polish renewable energy market, will be responsible for the origination, development, financing arrangements, construction, and management of battery storage projects. In addition to the Baczyna project, the partners will also consider acquiring more battery storage projects as the demand for flexibility in Poland's power system continues to grow.
Zofia Szewczuk, Head of Eiffel Investment Group in Poland, stated that battery storage is becoming a key component of Europe's energy transition. As renewable energy generation continues to expand, power systems require greater flexibility to maintain reliability and resilience. Poland is one of Europe's most dynamic energy markets, and storage infrastructure will play a central role in its transformation.
Michal Lewczuk, Partner at Ergy, said that Ergy supports local and international investors in implementing renewable energy projects in Poland, and co-investing with investors is an important milestone in its growth. By combining international capital with local expertise, the aim is to deliver projects that strengthen the power system and support a greener energy structure.
The initiative is supported by the EU's InvestEU Fund.
