en.Wedoany.com Reported - The stay ring and spiral case for Unit 4 of the Anhui Shitai Pumped Storage Power Station were hoisted into place on July 18, 2026, marking the completion of the stay ring and spiral case installation for all four units of the station, and signaling the final phase of electromechanical embedded parts installation. As a critical foundational component of the pump-turbine, the stay ring and spiral case bear the weight of the entire unit and the unit section concrete, withstand internal water pressure within the spiral case, and provide flow passage and water diversion functions.

The hoisted stay ring and spiral case for Unit 4, including the inlet section, had been fully welded in the erection bay, with a total weight of approximately 165 tons and maximum dimensions of about 11.3 meters × 10.8 meters × 2.6 meters. The Anhui Shitai Pumped Storage Company, under China Three Gorges Construction Engineering Corporation, will subsequently organize the hydrostatic test and pressure-maintaining concrete pouring for the stay ring and spiral case of Unit 4 to complete the unit embedded parts installation. Previously, the stay ring and spiral case for Unit 1 was hoisted in November 2025, and the installation work for Units 2 and 3 has also been completed successively.

Located in Shitai County, Chizhou City, Anhui Province, the Shitai Pumped Storage Power Station has a total installed capacity of 1,200 MW, with four 300 MW reversible pump-turbine generator units. It is a key implementation project under the 14th Five-Year Plan of the national "Medium and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035)" and is the first pumped storage power station invested and constructed by China Three Gorges Corporation in Anhui Province. Once completed, the station will absorb 1.96 billion kWh of off-peak electricity annually, provide 1.47 billion kWh of peak electricity, and save approximately 350,000 tons of standard coal. With the successful hoisting of the stay ring and spiral case for the final unit, the electromechanical installation work of the station will be fully accelerated, laying the foundation for the target of the first unit's commissioning and power generation in 2027.
