en.Wedoany.com Reported - The CO₂-CH₄ dry reforming pilot plant, jointly developed by China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd. and CNCCC Science and Technology Research Co., Ltd., passed a 72-hour continuous operation performance assessment organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation on July 17, marking a key breakthrough in low-carbon petrochemical technology.

During the assessment, the expert panel reviewed reports on project construction, plant commissioning, and trial operation results, conducted on-site inspections of DCS real-time operational data, calibration status of metering instruments, equipment operating conditions, sampling and testing procedures, and product indicators. A comprehensive evaluation was made on the plant's operational stability, process feasibility, and carbon reduction effectiveness. The panel confirmed that the pilot plant achieved long-term stable operation under a pressure of 2.0 MPa, with mature and feasible overall process technology, excellent core catalyst activity, and significant carbon emission reduction effects. It recommended accelerating the industrialization and large-scale deployment of this technology.

This technology enables the efficient synergistic conversion of two major greenhouse gases—CO₂ and CH₄—stably producing high-quality syngas with a low H₂/CO ratio, suitable for downstream applications such as high-end fine chemical manufacturing and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, providing a solution for end-of-pipe greenhouse gas emission reduction. Additionally, the technology can be applied for efficient resource utilization of carbon-containing gas sources such as CO₂-rich natural gas, biomass biogas, coke oven gas, and coalbed methane, supporting energy conservation, carbon reduction, and green high-end development in the chemical industry.
