en.Wedoany.com Reported - Qatar Airways has adjusted its winter 2025/2026 schedule, increasing the frequency of Airbus A380 operations on the Doha (DOH) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) route from the originally planned one daily flight to two daily flights.

Due to regional circumstances, Qatar Airways' superjumbo fleet was grounded for nearly two months earlier this year. According to OAG data, the route resumed using the 517-seat A380 on June 16, initially with one daily flight, increasing to two daily flights from July 1. Before the latest schedule update, the two daily services were originally planned to continue until October 24, the last day of the IATA northern summer aviation season. Following the adjustment, the two daily services will continue until mid-January 2027, after which they will be reduced to ten weekly flights, still higher than the previously planned level.

During the winter of 2025/2026, Qatar Airways operates one daily A380 flight to LHR. With this adjustment, the airline plans to offer two A380 flights at different times: an early morning departure from DOH at 2:00 AM, arriving at LHR at 6:25 AM, and a daytime departure at 7:50 AM, arriving at 12:15 PM. From mid-January, the latter frequency will be reduced to three weekly flights.

Focusing on the period from November 2026 to February 2027, Qatar Airways and its close partner British Airways operate an average of 11 daily flights between DOH and London (LON), with frequencies ranging from 9 to 12 daily flights. British Airways operated the DOH to London Gatwick Airport (LGW) route on behalf of Qatar Airways between 2021 and 2024. In 2022 and 2023, British Airways temporarily used the A380 on the LHR to DOH route to support capacity demands during the World Cup.

In the A380 operational landscape at LHR, in addition to Qatar Airways, British Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qantas, and Singapore Airlines will also operate double-decker aircraft at the airport between November 2026 and February 2027, totaling an average of approximately 20 daily flights. Compared to the same period in 2025/2026, total frequencies remain largely unchanged, but individual operators show significant capacity differences. Qatar Airways' planned service volume for this period increases by 72% year-on-year, while British Airways sees a 14% decline. The reduction for British Airways is mainly attributed to its ongoing cabin refurbishment and reconfiguration, with seat counts on some sub-fleets decreasing from 469 to 421.
