en.Wedoany.com Reported - Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKEX: 9868) held an official launch event for its new model, the XPeng L03, in Munich, Germany. XPeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng announced that the next-generation AI SUV coupe, the XPeng L03, will be simultaneously launched in 65 countries and regions. XPeng also announced a partnership with Google Maps, utilizing the Google Maps Auto SDK to build its own navigation system and leveraging its in-vehicle map data services to support the flagship full-scenario intelligent assisted driving system NGP (Next-Generation Pilot Assistance) and the basic assistance system XPILOT ASSIST. This map capability upgrade is primarily targeted at most overseas markets.

XPeng is the first automaker in the Asia-Pacific region to integrate the Google Maps Auto SDK into its vehicles. The Google Maps Auto SDK allows original equipment manufacturers to design their own navigation experience on top of Google's underlying technology, featuring capabilities such as real-time traffic-aware route guidance, EV energy estimation and trip planning, and place search. Users can natively enjoy a complete XPeng in-vehicle map experience tailored for XPeng vehicles without needing to download the Google Maps app or rely on smartphone screen projection. Overseas users of the XPeng L03 will be the first to enjoy this upgrade ahead of other models. On the in-vehicle screen, users will continue to use the familiar XPeng Maps app, with the overall interface, map rendering, and interaction design independently developed by XPeng.

Jorgen Behrens, Vice President and General Manager of Google Maps Automotive, stated that over 2 billion users use Google Maps every month. XPeng successfully deployed a refreshed navigation experience in less than a year, seamlessly combining unique design with navigation expertise through the Google Maps Auto SDK. By integrating Google Maps' underlying technology, XPeng can customize the navigation experience for drivers, leveraging the breadth, depth, scale, and freshness of its technology and services. The in-vehicle Google Maps integration will enable XPeng drivers to navigate with confidence, accurately estimate energy consumption for different routes, while enjoying existing features such as voice control and seamless display switching across multiple screens.

Adopting Google Maps as a foundational capability will provide a solid basis for the phased global rollout of XPeng's advanced driving systems. For XPeng's autonomous driving system to go global, the NGP (VLA 2.0) function in overseas markets must rely on map data and navigation operations. Integrating Google Maps data services into the Google Automotive SDK is a key upgrade that clears the path for the international development of NGP. With the start of the global launch process for the XPeng L03, XPeng is leveraging its solid technology partnership with Google to extend its intelligent advantages to other parts of the world.
