National Highways' Technical Assurance and Asset Management Framework assigns these asset renewal and resilience projects to Jacobs to protect the performance of the M32 and M5 motorways. In June 2025, National Highways announced the inclusion of six suppliers, including Jacobs, in this framework, which is part of the Roads Investment Strategy 3 (RIS3), with a total estimated framework value of £495 million.

Jacobs stated that these contract awards demonstrate its expanding role in the modernization of UK infrastructure. The statement noted that these awards solidify Jacobs' position as a key supplier to the strategic road network, providing safe, reliable, and long-term resilience support for millions of road users.

Under the contract arrangements, Jacobs will deliver detailed design for Phases 3 to 5 of the M32 Eastville Viaduct. This viaduct carries the M32 into Bristol, serving as a critical commuter and freight corridor connecting the city to the M4 and M5 motorways. Through detailed structural design and renewal planning, Jacobs will help extend the viaduct's service life, reducing the risk of disruptive, unplanned closures, which translates to improved safety and reduced congestion associated with reactive maintenance works for road users.

For the M5 Wynhol Viaduct, Jacobs will deliver preliminary design for Phases 1 to 2, including structural needs assessment and development of sustainable intervention options to ensure the long-term resilience of one of the UK's most important north-south freight routes.

Additionally, under National Highways' Construction and Professional Management Services Lot 2 (Project Management Services Framework), Jacobs has been selected to lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver at least 15 projects. This framework position covers a three-year term, with options for two one-year extensions. Jacobs stated that projects delivered under this framework will have strategic scope and deliver measurable benefits for road users and communities.
