en.Wedoany.com Reported - British Petroleum (bp) has officially launched the expansion project of the Atlantis facility in Green Canyon, US Gulf of Mexico, approximately 150 miles south of New Orleans, at a water depth of 7,074 feet.

The Atlantis semi-submersible platform has a maximum oil production capacity of 200,000 barrels per day and a natural gas production capacity of 180 million cubic feet per day. This expansion will add approximately 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in peak average annual production to the overall project, with bp's net share amounting to about 5,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The expansion includes two water injection wells, new subsea trees, and additional water injection pumps on the platform's topsides. bp stated that these facilities are designed to increase pressure in the target reservoirs, thereby unlocking additional crude reserves, extending the asset's production life, and leaving capacity for future water injection operations on the platform. The Atlantis asset, located in Green Canyon lease blocks GC699, GC742, GC743, and GC744, has been producing for nearly 20 years. In 2025, bp brought first oil online through the Atlantis Drilling Center 1 expansion project, which added approximately 15,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in total production.

bp has also recently approved two new production platforms—Kaskida and Tiber in Keathley Canyon. As planned, the two platforms will collectively add 160,000 barrels per day of oil production capacity to the US offshore region by the end of 2030, with Kaskida expected to achieve first oil in 2029 and Tiber expected to begin production in 2030.

bp is the operator of the Atlantis project, holding a 56% interest, with partner Woodside Energy holding the remaining 44%.
