en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Salamanca Dry Port (Puerto Seco de Salamanca) in Spain has launched an expansion project to enhance its logistics capacity, with new infrastructure for bulk cargo unloading, transshipment, and storage. The project includes two warehouses for grain and fertilizer, as well as one warehouse for containers and general cargo.

According to the Salamanca City Council (Ayuntamiento de Salamanca), the dry port will become the only public rail terminal in the western Iberian Peninsula, with the capacity to handle solid bulk goods such as grain and fertilizer. The new infrastructure covers an area of 88,000 square meters, can accommodate trains up to 750 meters in length, has a storage capacity of 900 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), and is equipped with four large truck weighbridges.

Local authorities predict that once the expansion project is operational, the dry port will handle approximately 700,000 tons of cargo annually. The project investment is estimated at €5 million, funded by the Regional Government of Castile and León (Junta de Castilla y León).
