en.Wedoany.com Reported - An agri-voltaic power plant in Lodi, Italy, has been commissioned with a capacity of 1 MW, utilizing approximately 1,670 ABC-type N-type modules from Chinese manufacturer Aiko, along with Solaxis Agro 1P single-axis trackers manufactured by Italy's SBS Solar in Cremona. The project was developed by agricultural company Azienda Agricola La Torre di Rocca Marco, with crops and trees planted on the site; the compatibility of photovoltaic power generation with agricultural activities determined the technology selection.

The Solaxis Agro tracker is a north-south oriented single-axis tracker (1P) with a rotation axis height of approximately 3.2 meters. According to the project developer, this design meets the requirements of Italian agri-voltaic regulations: when the modules are at their maximum tilt angle, the minimum clearance between the lowest point of the modules and the ground must be 2.1 meters to ensure normal agricultural operations beneath the structure.

The power plant employs ABC modules based on back-contact (BC) technology. The manufacturer states that compared to conventional configurations, this solution reduces the total number of modules by 75 units, freeing up approximately 60 square meters of installation area. Project calculations show that the higher power density will generate an additional 633.2 MWh of cumulative electricity over 30 years, corresponding to approximately €25,010 in additional savings over the plant's entire lifecycle.

The site experiences partial shading from trees as well as accumulation of dust and organic residues, typical conditions in agricultural environments. According to Aiko, the ABC modules feature built-in optimization for partial shading, reducing power losses and maintaining stable power generation under non-ideal conditions. The technical team states that module performance remains stable while cleaning and maintenance frequency is reduced.

In terms of safety, the manufacturer claims that ABC modules can keep hot-spot temperatures below 100°C, reducing hot-spot-related risks in partial shading and high-temperature scenarios, which are common in ground-mounted agricultural installations.
