en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and UK-based autonomous driving technology company Oxa announced on August 3 the establishment of a joint venture, SHIFFT, which will initially focus on airport and port operations, deploying autonomous logistics solutions to enhance the efficiency, productivity, and safety of ground operations.

Dubai Future Foundation and Oxa establish joint venture

SHIFFT combines Oxa's autonomous driving technology with integrated logistics and site intelligence systems to provide an end-to-end autonomous logistics platform, covering the deployment of autonomous vehicles in industrial environments, including airports. The two parties plan to launch the first commercial deployment in Dubai by the end of 2027.

The core of the solution includes the Oxa Driver autonomous driving software, the cloud-based fleet management platform Oxa Hub, and autonomous driving hardware that can be integrated with existing fleets. This solution enables the automation of a range of operational vehicles without the need to purchase an entirely new fleet.

In the airport sector, this technology can support the automation of logistics and airside support operations, helping operators improve fleet utilization and operational resilience, while optimizing the movement of cargo and equipment across complex sites.

SHIFFT is also part of Dubai's Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) program, which will help the emirate achieve its goal of doubling foreign trade volume by 2033.

Khalifa Al Qama, Head of Dubai's RDI Ecosystem at the Dubai Future Foundation, stated that to achieve Dubai's ambitious goal of doubling foreign trade by 2033, it is essential to continuously develop and deploy solutions that enhance the speed, efficiency, and resilience of the logistics industry. SHIFFT embodies the RDI program's purpose of bringing together global expertise and local capabilities to develop solutions with practical impact and commercial viability, advancing autonomous mobility, creating new economic opportunities, and consolidating Dubai's position as a global logistics hub.

Paul Newman, Founder and CEO of Oxa, stated that this collaboration will accelerate the commercialization of Oxa's Industrial Mobile Autonomy (IMA) technology, transforming ordinary operational vehicles into a digital workforce. In large-scale industrial environments, autonomous technology will unlock new levels of efficiency, reliability, and safety for industrial fleet operators.
