en.Wedoany.com Reported - Italy's Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (Cipess) has approved the allocation of €106 million to the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority (AdSP) for strategic infrastructure projects at the ports under its jurisdiction.
According to information published on the AdSP's official website, Cipess endorsed the draft ministerial decree jointly agreed upon by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport and the Minister of Economy and Finance, concerning the allocation of resources from the "Port Infrastructure Fund" to finance infrastructure projects at ports of national importance, with the total value of port projects included in the intervention plan amounting to approximately €357.6 million.
The newly secured funding covers seven strategic projects. At the Port of Ancona, funding is directed toward: the deepening of the seabed at Pier 26 and other commercial quays (a process for which the final contract award has been completed); the partial demolition of the North Pier and seabed leveling, an intervention aimed at improving safety for vessels entering the port; and the development of the Clementino Quay, a facility that will support the berthing of large cruise ships and increase port throughput.
At the Port of Ortona, funds are allocated for the improvement of the Riva Pier project, the renovation of the Martello Pier, and port expansion works. Additionally, resources have been restored for the construction of the dredged material recovery basin at the Port of Pesaro, which serves as preliminary infrastructure for port dredging operations.
AdSP President Mirco Carloni stated that, thanks to the coordinated efforts of Minister Salvini and Undersecretary Risi with Minister Giorgetti, Undersecretary of State Albano, and Undersecretary of State Morelli, as well as the continued attention of President Acquaroli, Regional Councillor Bugarro, and President Marsilio, the works essential to the growth of the port system have been able to resume.
