China's Sus Environment Signs Contracts Exceeding RMB 2 Billion for Five Waste-to-Energy Projects in Vietnam
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 20, China Sus Environment signed contracts with Vietnam's Thuan Thanh Group for five municipal solid waste incineration power generation projects, located in Haiphong, Ho Chi Minh City, and other areas, with a total contract value exceeding RMB 2 billion and a combined designed waste processing capacity of over 7,000 tons per day.
Under the contracts, Sus Environment will provide complete equipment supply for the plants and undertake engineering installation, system commissioning, and technical services, covering key segments such as waste reception and storage, incineration, waste heat utilization, flue gas purification, power generation, and auxiliary systems. Once completed, the project cluster will convert municipal solid waste into electricity, reduce the volume of raw waste sent to landfills, and enhance the region's centralized and resource-oriented solid waste disposal capacity.
This signing represents a project cluster encompassing equipment supply and engineering services, with a scale exceeding any single project Sus Environment had previously undertaken in Vietnam. In 2024, Sus Environment, together with PowerChina, signed the EPC contract for the Tam Sinh Nghia waste-to-energy project in Ho Chi Minh City, with a Phase I processing capacity of 2,600 tons per day, equivalent to 20% to 25% of the city's daily municipal solid waste generation.
In addition to the contracts for the five projects, Sus Environment and Thuan Thanh Group also signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties plan to engage in technology sharing and capital cooperation in areas such as municipal solid waste, industrial solid waste, and hazardous waste treatment, eco-industrial park development, landfill remediation, and waste resource recovery, extending their collaboration model from single equipment and engineering delivery to project development and integrated solid waste management.
Municipal solid waste generation in major Vietnamese cities continues to grow, and in some regions, landfilling remains the primary disposal method, driving increasing demand for waste-to-energy projects. Thuan Thanh Group has previously participated in the development of a waste-to-energy project in Bac Ninh Province, Vietnam, and possesses local waste collection and transportation, project land, and solid waste disposal resources; Sus Environment provides incineration equipment, engineering construction, and commissioning capabilities, and their cooperation forms a business combination of local project development and turnkey technology delivery.
Prior to signing the Vietnam projects, Sus Environment also received conditional letters of award for two waste-to-energy projects in Indonesia and signed the EPC contract for the Phase II waste-to-energy project in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, making Southeast Asia the primary growth region for its overseas solid waste engineering orders.
