en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, Nour Eddine Daoudi, Chairman and CEO of Algeria's national oil and gas company Sonatrach, led a high-level delegation to China, during which memorandums of understanding were signed with Sinopec and Anton Oilfield Services Group respectively.

Sinopec and Sonatrach Upgrade Strategic Collaboration

On August 28, Sonatrach and Sinopec signed a strategic memorandum of understanding in Beijing, expanding their long-term partnership to multiple areas including upstream oil and gas exploration, petrochemical production, and the integration of renewable energy. The agreement aims to deepen strategic collaboration between Sonatrach and Sinopec. This cooperation builds upon the preliminary framework for energy projects established between the two parties in 2024, representing a further upgrade of the existing partnership.

Under the newly signed framework agreement, the two parties will expand technical and commercial cooperation across the entire oil and gas value chain, with a focus on the development of conventional and unconventional oil and gas resources, technical breakthroughs in complex oilfields, production of refined petrochemical products, and helium recovery operations. In addition, the cooperation covers oilfield engineering services, grid integration of renewable energy, talent development, and research into cutting-edge energy technologies.

This cooperation also reflects the increasingly close linkage between the North African region and Asian capital and engineering expertise, with both parties committed to jointly unlocking the development potential of mature blocks and geologically complex areas. By integrating renewable energy and emerging technological capabilities into traditional oilfield service systems, this partnership aims not only to enhance upstream operational efficiency in Algeria but also to ensure stable supply to the international energy market.

Anton Oilfield Services and Sonatrach Expand Oil and Gas Cooperation

On August 29, Sonatrach and Anton Oilfield Services Group signed a memorandum of understanding in Beijing. Through this agreement, the two parties will further expand their cooperation space in oil and gas and related oilfield services.

According to the memorandum, the two companies will jointly assess the development potential of unconventional resources and marginal oilfields, and explore the application prospects of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technologies.

The agreement also proposes that the two parties will study the feasibility of establishing localized manufacturing capabilities in Algeria, primarily targeting completion tools and related equipment required for natural gas operations.

In addition to advancing specific project cooperation, this partnership also focuses on promoting technical exchange, knowledge transfer, and talent development in Algeria's oil and gas industry, particularly in the development of unconventional resources.

This cooperation reflects Sonatrach's continued efforts to expand international technical and industrial collaboration, while also demonstrating its clear direction toward strengthening its domestic technical capabilities in complex oil and gas development. The signing of this agreement establishes a clear institutional framework for substantive cooperation between the two parties in resource development, oilfield technical services, localized production, and technology introduction in the future.
