Wedoany.com Report-Jun 25, ROSEN UK has been awarded a significant contract to provide design verification and subsea engineering support for a major carbon capture initiative in the UK. The project, focused on decarbonizing North West England and North Wales, is expected to reduce regional carbon dioxide emissions by 25% starting in the mid-2020s.
The initiative aims to foster a low-carbon future by capturing and storing CO₂ from heavy industries while supplying locally produced, low-carbon hydrogen to power businesses, transportation, and households. This effort will enhance energy security, preserve existing jobs, and create new opportunities for skilled workers in the region.
Under the contract, ROSEN(UK) Ltd. will perform detailed design verification for the project’s CO₂ transportation pipelines, ensuring they meet stringent safety, reliability, and performance standards. The company’s expertise will also support the repurposing of pipelines for carbon storage. The collaboration, which began in early 2025, is set to span two years, with potential for additional projects as the UK advances toward net-zero emissions.
Gordon Blair, Business Development Manager at ROSEN(UK) Ltd., stated: “We are proud to be part of a project that is shaping the future of the UK’s energy sector. Our deep expertise in pipeline verification and subsea engineering ensures the infrastructure supporting carbon capture is both safe and efficient.”
Bryn Roberts, Technical Manager at ROSEN(UK) Ltd., added: “This initiative is a game-changer for industrial decarbonization, and we look forward to continuing our role in delivering a more sustainable future.”
The project represents a significant step in the UK’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and transition to sustainable energy solutions, with ROSEN UK playing a key role in ensuring the reliability and safety of critical infrastructure.
