Paint Zero Plans to Enter the North American Market with a Dry Powder Paint Model
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 24, UK paint company Paint Zero announced that it is advancing its North American market expansion, with plans to introduce its water-mixable dry powder architectural paint concentrate to the United States and other markets. The company initially plans to offer a limited color range for the US market and is in discussions with retailers, distributors, licensing partners, and local co-manufacturers.
Paint Zero's products are shipped in dry powder form and are mixed with tap water by the end user to create architectural paint. The company uses plant-based binders to replace the synthetic acrylic and vinyl polymers commonly found in traditional architectural paints. Its products do not use petrochemical resins and feature VOC-free formulations. Paint Zero currently sells matte emulsion paint in the UK and has also opened cross-border sales to US customers.
The North American expansion will adopt Paint Zero's proposed "Factory in a Box" localized production model. Under this model, the company supplies its core dry powder binder to authorized local co-manufacturers, who then add locally sourced mineral fillers and pigments and complete blending and packaging near the target market. This model separates the supply of the core formulation from local raw material procurement, production, and packaging.
Because the product is transported in dry powder form, there is no need to add the large amounts of water found in conventional liquid paints at the production stage. Paint Zero claims that this model can reduce shipping weight, packaging requirements, and associated transportation emissions by more than 70%, while also reducing the need for long-distance, cross-regional transportation of finished paint. These figures are company-disclosed data; publicly available information does not currently provide third-party life cycle assessment results.
In the next phase, Paint Zero will continue to screen North American manufacturing, licensing, retail, and distribution partners and determine its initial product portfolio and localized supply system.
