Qatar's Hamad General Hospital Launches QAR 1.179 Billion Renovation

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, the comprehensive upgrade project of Hamad General Hospital in Qatar was launched, with a total investment of approximately QAR 1.179 billion. The project is being jointly advanced by Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and Hamad Medical Corporation, implemented in 3 main packages, and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2029.

The construction scope includes building a new day surgery building, renovating the outpatient tower and the main hospital building, refurbishing the south and north inpatient towers, and updating mechanical, electrical, internal drainage, HVAC, fire sprinkler, lighting, surveillance, and hospital security systems. The project will also include new water tanks and ancillary service facilities, and the inpatient towers will adopt a single-patient room layout after renovation.
During construction, the south and north inpatient towers will be vacated for renovation, and some outpatient departments will be relocated to campuses including Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital and the Medical Care and Research Center. Hamad General Hospital will continue to operate its Trauma and Emergency Center, Orthopedics and Joint Center, Pediatric Emergency Center, and Kidney Center, and will retain more than 370 inpatient beds.
The project uses Building Information Modeling for multidisciplinary design and construction coordination, and advances energy consumption and water management in accordance with the relevant standards of the Global Sustainability Assessment System. Qatar's Public Works Authority has previously included the Hamad General Hospital upgrade project in its portfolio of infrastructure and public building projects worth approximately QAR 11.5 billion.
