en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 15, German automaker Porsche held the global debut of the Mission S concept car in New York, USA, announcing plans to develop a new-generation mid-engine supercar platform positioned above the 911. Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, stated that the platform will be incorporated into the company's product lineup as a long-term product series, supporting the future development of supercars in various configurations. The debut also showcased the new platform's body design, aerodynamic structure, and digital cockpit technology.

The Mission S adopts a mid-engine layout, with a body design that integrates structural elements from multiple historic Porsche models. The front fenders and round headlights continue the design characteristics of the 911, the flat front end references the GT1 race car, the roofline draws from the 959 model, and the rear adopts a layered design derived from the GT1. The vehicle features an integrated active rear spoiler, the cooling system's exterior design references the cooling fan of the 917 race car, and the wheels are based on the classic disc-style design of the 928 model, redesigned for lightweight requirements.

The cockpit adopts a five-dial instrument layout, with the central tachometer composed of a physical needle and a rear-mounted display that can move toward the driver according to the driving mode. The remaining instruments support side-by-side or staggered front-to-back arrangements, with the instrument layout adjusting according to the driving mode. A dedicated key slot is retained on the left side of the steering wheel, and the center console uses physical control components with push-pull operation functions for direct operation of vehicle comfort and driving functions. The seats also feature seatbelt buckles integrated into the central panel, with electric adjustment controls repositioned.

In terms of in-car information interaction design, the Mission S eliminates the fixed central display and passenger display, adopting a stowable smartphone system that supports MagSafe technology. The driver can use their personal phone as a navigation or information display interface as needed. The accompanying My Porsche app provides access to vehicle functions and supports selecting digital display themes for the round instruments in the style of historic Porsche models. The cockpit interior uses specially developed color schemes including Firn White Metallic, Light Red Metallic, Black Chrome, and Special Black.

The Mission S was developed by the design team led by Tobias Sühlmann, Porsche's Head of Design, and is a new model design proposal within Porsche's "Sportwagenschmiede '35" strategy announced on October 7, 2026. The strategy was unveiled at the company's Capital Markets Day and involves adjustments to the future product portfolio and brand design direction. The Mission S debut showcases the design direction of the new platform in concept car form, and Porsche plans to apply the related design outcomes in subsequent product development.
