Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 19, On August 16, Great Wall Motor (GWM) officially commenced operations at its new manufacturing facility in Iracemápolis, São Paulo, Brazil, as announced on the company’s WeChat account. This development marks a significant step in GWM’s global expansion strategy, particularly in Latin America, and strengthens the integration of Chinese and Brazilian automotive supply chains.

The plant, previously acquired from Daimler Group, has been transformed into a modern smart manufacturing hub. Spanning 1.2 million square meters with 94,000 square meters of floor space, it includes advanced welding, painting, and assembly workshops, supported by robust utilities and logistics systems. With an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles, the facility will initially focus on producing key models such as the HAVAL H6, HAVAL H9, and the 2.4T Great Wall POER.

Located in São Paulo, Brazil’s industrial core, the plant benefits from excellent transportation networks, a well-developed supplier ecosystem, and an efficient logistics framework, enabling streamlined operations. As GWM’s third full-process vehicle production site outside China, it serves as a strategic link connecting the company’s operations across Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.

GWM President Mu Feng stated: “The Brazilian plant will serve as the company’s strategic anchor in Latin America, enabling it to better serve markets such as Mexico, Argentina, and Chile by shortening delivery times and strengthening localized services.” The facility is designed to enhance GWM’s ability to meet regional demand with greater efficiency and tailored customer support.

This launch represents a key milestone in GWM’s “ecosystem globalization” approach, evolving from an export-focused model to a comprehensive global operation encompassing research, production, supply, sales, and after-sales services. Since entering international markets in 1997, GWM has established over 1,400 overseas sales outlets, with its products available in more than 170 markets and cumulative exports surpassing two million units. In addition to its three overseas full-process plants, GWM operates several knock-down (KD) assembly facilities in countries such as Ecuador and Pakistan.

The Iracemápolis plant underscores GWM’s commitment to expanding its global presence while fostering sustainable growth and innovation in the automotive industry, particularly in Latin America’s dynamic markets.
