Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 25, Digital Realty has expanded its presence in West Africa with the launch of its third data centre in Lagos, Nigeria. The new facility, named LKK2, is located in Lekki and is designed to strengthen digital infrastructure in the region. LKK2 adds nearly 2MW of IT capacity and 13,000 square feet of data hall space. It is expected to become fully operational later this year, serving as an important addition to Nigeria’s growing digital ecosystem.

The new data centre is directly connected to Digital Realty’s existing LKK1 facility, which functions as the landing station for the 2Africa subsea cable. This system links more than 46 landing points across 33 countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. With this connection, LKK2 enables businesses in Nigeria and across West Africa to benefit from faster, low-latency connectivity and secure access to global cloud and network services.

In addition to subsea connectivity, LKK2 integrates with ServiceFabric, Digital Realty’s global interconnection platform. Through this system, the new facility provides direct connections to LOS1 and LOS2, Digital Realty’s data centres located on Victoria Island. The integration creates a broader digital network within Nigeria, helping enterprises connect seamlessly to partners, platforms and markets worldwide.

Ike Nnamani, Managing Director of Digital Realty Nigeria, highlighted the importance of the launch: “LKK2 is a significant milestone in our journey to support digital transformation in Africa. Our continued investment in Nigeria and the broader African region reinforces our commitment to enabling seamless global interconnectivity and providing a future-ready infrastructure platform for local and global enterprises.”

The LKK2 facility represents more than an expansion of capacity; it strengthens Nigeria’s role in the global digital landscape. With direct access to the 2Africa subsea cable, businesses across sectors such as finance, technology, media and manufacturing will be able to leverage high-performance connections that support cloud adoption and digital innovation.

Digital Realty has positioned the new facility to serve both local enterprises and international companies seeking reliable infrastructure in West Africa. By combining renewable investments with interconnection solutions, the company aims to address the growing demand for data services while supporting regional economic development.

With LKK2, Digital Realty continues its strategy of building scalable, interconnected data hubs that provide resilient digital foundations for enterprises. The opening of this facility underscores the company’s long-term commitment to advancing digital transformation across Africa and ensuring that Nigerian businesses have the infrastructure needed to connect efficiently to the global economy.
