Wedoany.com Report-Dec.14, Alight has officially commissioned the Lidsø solar park in Denmark, its first operational project in the Danish market.

DSB has entered into a long-term PPA with Alight.

The facility is located at Rødby Harbour on the island of Lolland and, with an installed capacity of 215 MWp, is described as Denmark's second-largest solar park. Covering 253 hectares, Lidsø is fully owned and operated by Alight, a Nordic solar developer and independent power producer.

Denmark's state-owned railway company DSB has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Alight. Under the agreement, renewable electricity from the park will be supplied to the Danish grid, supporting the country's energy transition goals.

DSB head of sustainability Aske Mastrup Wieth-Knudsen said: "It is crucial for us to contribute to increased production of renewable energy in Denmark. Even though trains are already a more climate-friendly means of transport than the average car, this project contributes to our goal of more train journeys powered by renewable energy with minimal impact on the climate and environment."

The solar park was acquired from developer European Energy in March 2025 and is the largest operating solar facility on Lolland. It features approximately 350,000 solar panels, of which roughly half are installed on single-axis trackers that follow the sun, enabling higher energy yield compared to fixed-tilt systems.

Lidsø also operates as an agrovoltaic project, combining electricity generation with agricultural activity. Around 1,700 sheep graze on the site throughout the year.

Alight CEO Warren Campbell stated: "We are extremely proud to inaugurate one of Denmark's largest solar parks today. Lidsø solar park will be an important part of Denmark's energy transition and is proof that solar power can contribute on a large scale. Thanks to long-term power purchase agreements we can deliver new additional sustainable capacity to the Danish grid, while strengthening our position as a leading player in the Nordic market."

Earlier in 2025, Alight signed another PPA with AkzoNobel for the development of a 15 MWp solar park in Uppsala County, Sweden.
