Ford's U.S. Sales Grow 6% in 2025
On January 6, Ford Motor Company released its 2025 sales data for the U.S. market. The data shows that the company's total annual sales reached 2,204,124 vehicles, representing an approximate 6% increase compared to the previous year's 2,078,832 vehicles. This performance was driven by strong market demand for its hybrid models and more affordable pickup trucks.
Ford's hybrid vehicle sales hit a new record in 2025, with 228,072 units sold for the full year, representing a year-over-year increase of nearly 22%. Among them, demand for the Ford Maverick compact pickup remained robust, with sales of approximately 155,051 units, an increase of about 18% compared to the previous year. Andrew Frick, head of Ford's gasoline and electric vehicle business, stated in a conference call on Monday: "(Maverick sales) have really made a big difference for us in addressing affordability in the market."
The release of this sales report follows announcements of annual sales growth from other major automakers such as Toyota, Hyundai, and General Motors. Despite facing policy changes and market demand fluctuations over the past year, Ford maintained its growth momentum by adjusting its product portfolio to align with consumer focus on value. The company indicated that many car buyers are opting for relatively affordable base-model configurations.
While highlighting the performance of hybrid and traditional internal combustion engine models, Ford announced in December 2025 a strategic adjustment to its electric vehicle business, including recording related asset impairment charges and pausing production of certain electric models.
