According to data released by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) on January 6, Tesla's sales in the German market declined in December 2025. The data shows that Tesla sold 2,032 cars that month, a decrease of approximately 48% year-on-year. For the full year of 2025, Tesla's registrations in Germany totaled 19,390 vehicles, down 48.4% from the previous year.
Meanwhile, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD performed relatively well in the German market. BYD's sales reached 4,109 units in December 2025, showing significant year-on-year growth; its cumulative registrations in Germany for the full year 2025 amounted to 23,306 vehicles. The overall German electric vehicle market maintained growth in 2025, with total new electric vehicle registrations reaching 545,142 units, an increase of 43.2% year-on-year.
Industry observers note that the competitive landscape is shifting, with Tesla's sales ranking in the global electric vehicle market undergoing adjustments. In the European region, Tesla's market share contracted in 2025 compared to previous periods.
