Good news recently came from the Magassi sector of the Cameroon Logone River Irrigation Project LOT2: the construction of the water supply and drainage engineering channels in this sector has been successfully completed, marking the entry of the overall sector construction into its final stage.
As a key project jointly invested by the World Bank and the Cameroonian government, the Logone River Irrigation Project is divided into four plots, with the Magassi plot covering an area of 2,295.43 hectares. The water supply and drainage works in this sector are of a large scale, with a total irrigation channel length of 112 kilometers, a total drainage channel length of 133 kilometers, and an earthwork volume of up to 385,000 cubic meters. During the construction process, the project contractor strictly adhered to technical specifications for quality control and improved construction efficiency while ensuring safety through the scientific organization of workflow sequences. This ultimately led to the completion of this phase of the water supply and drainage works as planned.
The smooth completion of the water supply and drainage channels in the Magassi sector not only provides ample time for the subsequent acceptance and handover work in the sector, boosting the confidence of all participating units in the project's ability to fulfill its commitments, but also provides strong support for local Cameroonian farmers to carry out timely cultivation.
