UK construction company Graham has recently been awarded a £37 million contract to undertake a comprehensive redevelopment of Castle Rock School in Coalville, Leicestershire. Commissioned by the UK Department for Education, the project involves a large-scale rebuild of the existing secondary school and sixth-form campus.
The redevelopment scheme, designed by architecture firm DLA, primarily includes the construction of a new two-storey main teaching block, along with systematic refurbishment and functional upgrades to the retained existing buildings on the campus. To provide a modern educational environment for approximately 1,550 students, some of the older school buildings will be demolished. The scope of works also encompasses the creation and improvement of various outdoor facilities, such as outdoor learning and activity spaces, multi-use games areas, new sports pitches, and overall campus landscape enhancements.
This school construction project focuses not only on updating the physical infrastructure but also on enhancing the campus's functional layout and spatial efficiency through holistic planning. The rebuilt Castle Rock School is expected to significantly improve teaching and activity conditions for both staff and students, providing the local community with more comprehensive public education facilities.
