Wedoany.com Report on Feb 10th, Australia Post is accelerating investment in its delivery network in South Australia, with plans to build four dedicated facilities in Murray Bridge, Kadina, Port Pirie, and Tailem Bend to enhance regional parcel processing capacity.

These new sites will serve the state's rapidly growing regional centers, aiming to improve parcel processing efficiency and delivery speed. Data shows that online shopping in South Australia has increased by 4.9% year-on-year, with parcel volumes growing by 9% during the peak season from November to December.

Each facility is expected to handle between 2,000 and 3,700 parcels daily, enhancing delivery reliability and last-mile performance. All sites will be equipped with rooftop solar systems, aligning with emission reduction strategies and supporting local energy generation and charging for electric delivery vehicles.

Shane Plant, Executive General Manager of Network Operations at Australia Post, said: "This investment reflects our long-term commitment to regional communities. Currently, 80% of households in South Australia shop online, and regional parcel volumes continue to rise. These modern facilities are designed to address this growth, ensuring we can continue to serve our customers in the future."

He added: "We are focused on designing sites that enhance safety, increase capacity, and optimize transport processes, creating efficient working environments for our teams. This allows them to get on the road safely and provide reliable service to customers, both now and in the future."

Construction has commenced. The Murray Bridge facility (1,143 sqm) is expected to open in June, the Kadina (1,111 sqm) and Port Pirie (836 sqm) facilities are planned for July, and the Tailem Bend facility (1,335 sqm) is scheduled to open in August 2026.

This regional investment is part of a statewide expansion plan. Previously, in October 2025, Australia Post announced a $500 million investment to build a parcel super hub in Adelaide, its largest infrastructure commitment. It is expected to open in 2028 and will be capable of processing up to 400,000 parcels per day.
