Wedoany.com Report on Feb 10th, Indonesian telecommunications operator Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) recently announced that its AI-based cybersecurity protection system has successfully identified and blocked over 2 billion spam and scam attempts across its entire network. This marks a significant advancement for the company in the field of user digital security protection.

This anti-spam and anti-scam feature was jointly developed by IOH and its technology partner, Tanla, and is deployed on the Wiseley AI intelligent platform. According to the operator, the main security threats currently concentrate on OTP verification fraud, phishing, and fake prize-winning activities. These attacks are often spread via SMS and voice calls, showing a significant upward trend during holiday periods.
To date, approximately 2.5 million users have proactively enabled this security service through the official IOH application, collectively reporting over 124,000 suspected scam incidents. The operator's assessment indicates that this protection tool has helped users avoid potential financial losses of up to $500 million. Meanwhile, 95% of users who provided feedback reported feeling an enhanced sense of digital security due to this feature.
Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, commented on this, stating: "This initiative highlights the crucial role of cross-sectoral collaboration in building a safer digital environment. IOH's deployment practice serves as a real-world example of how AI technology can tangibly protect consumers."
IOH's CEO, Vikram Sinha, added: "Our continuous strengthening of this security feature reflects the company's commitment to addressing the real needs of our users. AI technology enables us to effectively identify and filter threats at the network level before they reach users, thereby providing proactive security protection for our customers."
