Wedoany.com Report on Feb 28th, Irish Lifting & Rigging has recently deployed two Raimondi flat-top tower cranes at the University Hospital Limerick campus to support the expansion project of this healthcare facility. As the official distributor of Raimondi in Ireland, the company has supplied the MRT234 and MRT294 model cranes to participate in this multi-phase redevelopment plan, which aims to meet regional healthcare demands through the expansion and modernization of existing infrastructure.

The MRT234 crane previously supported the project's first phase, assisting in adding 96 hospital beds within a four-story building. As the project entered its second phase, this crane was repositioned to the construction site in the third quarter of 2025. It is currently set up independently at a height of 41 meters, with a jib length of 55 meters and a maximum lifting capacity of 4.2 tons. The newly deployed MRT294 crane was erected to a height of 60.5 meters, with a jib length of 70 meters and a maximum lifting capacity of 3.5 tons, operating alongside the existing equipment. Both units are planned to maintain their original configurations throughout the project cycle, jointly advancing subsequent construction.
Robert Coffey, Managing Director of Irish Lifting & Rigging, stated: "The combination of the MRT234-12 ton and MRT294-14 ton provides the lifting capacity, working range, and operational flexibility required for such a complex site, especially considering its proximity to an operational hospital." Due to the constrained site layout, the installation process faced challenges with mobile crane setup, requiring the team to ensure public road access remained clear. Through meticulous planning, the team utilized a 450-ton mobile crane to complete the installation safely and efficiently. The two Raimondi tower cranes have been leased to the project's contractor and are expected to remain on-site for approximately 18 months. Upon project completion, 96 new beds and supporting medical facilities will be added.
Irish Lifting & Rigging operates a fleet of over 60 Raimondi cranes, serving 25 construction sites across Ireland and supporting various large-scale infrastructure and building projects. The expansion of University Hospital Limerick represents another significant healthcare project the company is involved in, demonstrating its equipment support capabilities in complex construction environments.
