Dangote Cement Signs Over $10 Billion Agreement with Sinoma International to Advance 12 New Projects in Africa

Wedoany.com Report on Feb 28th, Dangote Cement Plc recently signed a strategic framework agreement with Sinoma International Engineering Co., Ltd. in Lagos. The two parties will collaborate to construct 12 new projects and expand some existing facilities across Africa. This agreement is expected to involve investments exceeding $10 billion, aiming to support Dangote Group's goal of achieving an annual cement production capacity of 80 million tons by 2030, while also contributing to the Group's overall vision of generating $10 billion in revenue within the same timeframe.

At the signing ceremony, Aliko Dangote, Founder and President of Dangote Group, stated that these new projects are key drivers for Dangote Cement to achieve its 2030 capacity target. He said the projects will consolidate Dangote Cement's dominant position in the domestic market, boost its export activities, optimize existing operational assets, and improve production efficiency and capacity expansion. According to the agreement, Sinoma International will collaborate with Dangote Cement to advance new plant construction, existing plant expansion, and modernization projects. The new projects include a new integrated production line with satellite grinding units in northern Nigeria, a new production line in Ethiopia, and other projects in Zambia/Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon. Within Nigeria, Sinoma will also undertake the construction of various projects in Itori, Apapa, Lekki, Port Harcourt, and Onne.

At the signing ceremony, Emmanuel Ikazoboh, Chairman of Dangote Cement's Board of Directors, explained that these new projects will enable the company to play a crucial role in realizing Dangote Group's 2030 vision. Upon completion, the new projects will enhance Dangote Cement's production capacity. Arvind Pathak, Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement, stated that the agreement reflects the company's commitment to expanding its investment in the African market, aiming to bridge the supply gap and support infrastructure development on the continent. He noted: "Dangote Cement is committed to helping Africa achieve complete self-sufficiency in cement production, creating more value and linkages, thereby stimulating economic activity and reducing unemployment." The signing of this agreement marks a new phase in Dangote Cement's capacity expansion across the African continent.
