Wedoany.com Report on Mar 2nd, Recently, all construction sites along the Cangnan to Taishun Expressway have fully resumed work. Currently, work has restarted at all critical engineering control points, with builders advancing key processes such as tunnel excavation and bridge construction in the mountains of southern Zhejiang.

The Dapingshan Tunnel in the Cangtai Expressway's Civil Construction Section 2 is 7,305 meters long, making it the longest tunnel on the entire route. At the project site, a ventilation shaft approximately 200 meters deep is under construction. Luo Jian, Deputy Project Manager of Section 2, explained that this shaft serves as a "lifeline channel" for the expressway's operational phase, used for vertical ventilation and smoke exhaust. During the initial construction phase, issues with loose soil in the shaft walls were encountered. The project team adopted a strategy of simultaneous excavation and reinforcement, ensuring safety by adding steel mesh and shotcreting. Currently, over 300 workers are engaged at five work sites including the tunnel's entrance and exit, the ventilation shaft, roadbed, and bridges, with the project progress reaching 52%.

The Dongxi Extra-large Bridge, the largest bridge on the entire route located in Civil Construction Section 8, spans the Dongxi Gorge. As the only special bridge on the Cangtai Expressway, its cable tower design incorporates elements of Taishun's tea culture, drawing inspiration from tea leaf buds, ultimately presenting a "camellia flower" shape. Xia Yinhao, Chief Engineer of the Section 8 project, stated that the elliptical structure at the base of the Z1 cable tower has taken shape, reaching a height of about 40 meters, with the main tower planned for completion within the year. The main bridge is 470 meters long and, upon completion, will facilitate mountain transportation and become a local landmark.

Since the resumption of work, in response to the high bridge-tunnel ratio, complex geology, and recent rainy conditions, the project team has conducted comprehensive safety education and training for all personnel, increasing inspections of key areas such as tunnels, bridges, and high slopes. On the technical front, construction plans are reviewed item by item, and process standards are unified. The Cangtai Expressway traverses Cangnan and Taishun counties, connecting 14 towns along its route. Currently, bridge pile foundations are largely complete, tunnel and roadbed construction progress has surpassed the halfway mark, tunnels like Dongxi and Chaxi have been holed through, and the overall visual progress has reached 40%.
