Wedoany.com Report on Mar 6th, The Tire Industry Project (TIP), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, recently released the "End-of-Life Tyre Toolkit 2.0." This comprehensive guide for End-of-Life Tyre (ELT) management systems aims to promote more sustainable ELT management practices globally. The toolkit provides policymakers, industry associations, tire manufacturers, and other stakeholders with practical methods to address challenges across different regulatory and market environments.End-of-Life Tyre Toolkit 2.0

Building on the first edition from 2021, the new toolkit integrates the latest knowledge, case studies, and insights from experts in the ELT field, focusing on evolving opportunities and challenges within the ELT value chain. Tania Paratian, Director of Action and Engagement at TIP, stated, "Effective end-of-life tyre management is both an environmental imperative and a source of long-term value creation. We developed the ELT Toolkit 2.0 to provide a solid practical foundation for stakeholders worldwide, at various stages of management, supporting their sustainability efforts. This initiative reflects our commitment, guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, to drive more sustainable ELT management."

According to statistics, over 1 billion tyres reach the end of their service life globally each year. Although end-of-life tyres and their materials are valuable resources in the circular economy, TIP points out that current management systems remain highly fragmented, with significant regional disparities in collection, recycling, and reuse outcomes. The toolkit offers a range of assessment tools, examples, and improvement guidance to help identify gaps in existing systems and implement optimizations.

Furthermore, the toolkit supports the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including enhancing resource efficiency, promoting sustainable management of natural resources, and substantially reducing waste generation. By providing maturity assessment tools, it aims to assist global stakeholders in building more resilient, transparent, and effective end-of-life tyre management systems.
