Wedoany.com Report on Mar 7th, The U.S. House Agriculture Committee recently passed a farm bill that includes legislative provisions aimed at expanding access to precision agriculture technologies. This PRECISE Act, introduced by Iowa Republican Representative Ashley Hinson, seeks to increase the availability of precision agriculture tools through existing U.S. Department of Agriculture programs, helping agricultural producers cope with economic pressures.

Ashley Hinson stated: "This is about lowering input costs for our farmers and making sure they can actually survive." She further explained that the cost of precision agriculture technology poses a barrier for many farmers, but this bill aims to advance the technology in a way that respects taxpayers, rather than expanding the size of government.
The PRECISE Act, officially known as the "Production and Responsible Energy and Environmental Conservation Incentives and Solutions Act," supports the acquisition of precision agriculture technologies by incentivizing private sector financing, such as conservation loans and guaranteed loan programs, and by increasing cost-share and practice payments under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP). The bill will also fund precision agriculture projects through combined participation in conservation cost-share programs and conservation loan programs.
Hinson emphasized that precision agriculture technology not only helps increase crop yields but also reduces environmental impact, thereby providing farmers with a more sustainable production method. The advancement of this precision agriculture bill is seen as a significant step in promoting innovative technologies within the U.S. agricultural sector, with the potential to help farmers optimize resource use and improve economic efficiency.
