Wedoany.com Report on Mar 11th, KIER has completed the construction of the new Tain school, valued at £72 million, on behalf of the Highland Council. This school construction project is the first educational building in the Highland region to achieve Passive House certification, featuring high levels of insulation, airtight building fabric, and a mechanical ventilation system with efficient heat recovery. The school construction project will replace the existing school buildings that are no longer fit for purpose, providing modern educational facilities for the local community.

The new school construction project brings together Tain Royal Academy, Craighill Primary School, Knockbreck Primary School, and St Duthus School on a single site, providing education for children and young people aged 3 to 18. Each school will maintain its own identity within the overall school construction plan while sharing some learning environments and facilities. In addition to early years, primary (including Gaelic Medium Education), and secondary education, the school construction project includes a range of new community facilities, such as outdoor sports pitches available for after-school use, a two-court sports hall, a four-court games hall, and a dedicated dance and drama studio.

Councillor John Finlayson, Chair of the Highland Council's Education Committee, said: "It was fantastic to visit the new Tain school construction project and see the excellent facilities created for pupils and staff. This marks a significant milestone for the Tain community, and I am confident that this new school construction project will support high-quality learning environments, a thriving Gaelic Medium Education, and provide wider opportunities for collaboration between the three schools and the wider community for years to come."
