Wedoany.com Report on Mar 14th, Turner Construction Company, in collaboration with Aligned Data Centers, has recently completed the topping-out of the main structure for the Aligned IAD-06 data center campus in Frederick, Maryland, USA. The structural phase of this 72-megawatt data center facility is now complete, marking a critical milestone in the project's construction. This two-story data center, spanning 450,000 square feet, is situated within a 75-acre campus that is part of TPG's Quantum Frederick Park development. The campus master plan includes four buildings with a total planned capacity of 264 megawatts. Aligned Data Centers commenced construction on the IAD-04 facility at this location last year.

Construction on the IAD-06 data center project began five months ago, with Turner Construction deploying a peak workforce of 345 workers and logging 80,000 work hours. Nick Seville, Operations Manager at Turner Construction, stated, "Topping out this facility is more than just completing the structural frame." "It's a testament to the strength of our partnership with Aligned, the dedication of our trade partners, and Turner's commitment to safely and efficiently delivering this complex, high-performance data center." Recent progress has also been made on data center projects in the neighboring state of Pennsylvania, such as the Lancaster Data Center Campus.
Beyond the IAD-06 data center, TPG Real Estate Partners, as the sole developer of Quantum Frederick Park, is planning a gigawatt-scale, 2,100-acre data center campus. Aligned Data Centers, the anchor tenant, plans to build 3.3 million square feet of data center capacity on the campus, though it had briefly withdrawn from the development plan in mid-2023. Aligned will be joined by Rowan Digital Infrastructure, which plans to develop 11 buildings across three sites within the park. Amazon is also expected to take space, having submitted an air quality permit application for 99 generators, although it is not yet clear whether this will be through a lease or development agreement.
