en.Wedoany.com Reported - Prime Energy has expanded its partnership with Azul Linhas Aéreas, migrating two additional electricity consumption units to the Free Energy Market (Mercado Livre de Energia, MLE) and incorporating another 15 units into an energy subscription model. The project combines solutions from the Free Contracting Environment (Ambiente de Contratação Livre, ACL) and Distributed Generation (Geração Distribuída, GD), aiming to reduce operational costs, enhance budget predictability, and improve energy efficiency.

Azul Linhas Aéreas Free Energy Market

The partnership covers four units in the Free Contracting Environment and 15 units under the energy subscription model. The total traded electricity volume for the four units migrating to the Free Energy Market reaches 500 MWh. The collaboration began in 2023, when two units of Azul in Campinas (São Paulo state) were already transferred to the ACL. In this new phase, two units in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais state) and 15 operational sites distributed across Bahia, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Piauí, Mato Grosso, and inland São Paulo state have been included. These operational sites will receive power supply through the energy subscription model in the first half of 2026.

Financial results show the strategy has already proven effective. Over the past 36 months, the first two migrated units have accumulated savings of nearly 3 million reais. With the addition of new units, total savings are expected to approach 5 million reais. Under the energy subscription model, annual cost reductions are estimated between 95,000 and 117,000 reais.

Ana Lia Ferrero, CEO of Prime Energy, stated that the expansion of the partnership demonstrates the feasibility of integrating different energy solutions to support large-scale national operations. By combining the Free Energy Market with subscription energy, companies can enhance efficiency, predictability, and competitiveness. André Gonçalves da Cruz, Vice President of Technology at Azul, noted that adopting flexible solutions contributes to cost predictability and strengthens the company's competitiveness. In addition to operational benefits, such initiatives also support the sustainability of the aviation industry.

This trend reflects the industry movement among transportation, aviation, and logistics companies to leverage the Free Energy Market and Distributed Generation to reduce operational expenses and drive the energy transition.
