en.Wedoany.com Reported - German drugstore chain DM has signed a long-term solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with developer Energiekontor AG to supply green electricity to its stores in Germany. The agreement covers electricity generated from an 11 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar park planned in Bavaria, which will be built by Energiekontor and supply power under a long-term arrangement.

This agreement expands DM's renewable energy procurement sources and strengthens its transition to "additional" renewable power generation by directing demand toward new development projects. Compared to purchasing electricity solely from the spot market, long-term contracts enhance procurement resilience and reduce the risk of future market price fluctuations. At the same time, by linking store electricity coverage to domestic German development projects, the agreement supports domestic renewable energy production and strengthens regional power generation and supply.

The agreement helps DM translate its corporate climate targets into measurable renewable energy generation, with its green electricity claims becoming more transparent due to their association with specific assets and generation profiles. Furthermore, this power purchase arrangement provides certainty for Energiekontor's project development in Germany, encouraging developers and financiers to engage in long-term planning and demonstrating sustained demand for utility-scale solar power in Germany.
