en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sumec Energy and JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd. have signed an EPCM contract for the Sabwe Copper Mine Solar-Storage Microgrid Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The project plans to build a 71.4MWp photovoltaic power generation system and a 230MWh energy storage system, deeply integrating the source-grid-load-storage model, and incorporating photovoltaic, grid-forming energy storage, utility power, and diesel power generation systems. The project features core technologies such as coordinated control of solar-storage-diesel-utility power, black start, and seamless intelligent on-grid/off-grid switching. Once completed, it will significantly enhance the autonomous regulation capability and power supply reliability of the mining area's power system. At that time, the mining area will form an autonomous, highly secure dedicated smart microgrid, capable of stably supplying over 100 million kWh of clean electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 60,000 tons per year, achieving the dual goals of cost and carbon reduction as well as energy security and stability. Sumec Energy will provide full-process services for the project, from design, procurement, and construction management to operation and maintenance.
